Space-Efficient CD Storage

While at Panthip Plaza today (for the exquisite cuisine of course, why else?), I spotted some interesting CD folders. These 1-up folders sport two-sided, front/back sleeves with a cloth separator. Cut them out of the folder, trim the edges, and they resemble the ProSleeves in the article (figure 3) (figure 4)!

Well, not EXACTLY. The quality is a bit lower, the plastic is slightly opaque rather than transparent, CD's slide in a bit less smoothly, and there's no place to insert a spine label (I never use these anyway). But otherwise, they do make VERY affordable replacements for the ProSleeves. They also fit nicely into the mini-crates I mentioned.

Based on the prices quoted in the article, ProSleeves in the U.S. cost an average of 12.31 Baht/double-sided sleeve. In Thailand they cost 29.33 Baht/double-sided sleeve. Meanwhile, these DYI (do-it-yourself) double-sided sleeves cost 6.67 Baht each. A very enticing bargain if you ask me.

Needless to say, there are MANY varieties of folders on sale. The one I got had a transparent plastic front and back, holds 24 CD's and costed 80 Baht. Don't get the large ones because you're going to have throw the case away anyway after you cut the sleeves out. Also, make sure there's enough space on the side of the sleeves so that you can cut them out without damaging the sleeve itself.
